Upon arrival in Musanze (the town nearest Volcanoes National Park), check into your pre-arranged accommodation.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

The scenic route traverses the southwestern Ugandan landscape with incredible vistas of Lake Kivu visible on clear days. You’ll pass through small towns, including Kisoro and wind through increasingly wild terrain. The Rushaga sector is less crowded than other Bwindi regions, providing more intimate wildlife encounters.

Pre-Trek Preparation

The forest is darker, more humid, and teeming with biodiversity. Trek duration ranges from 3-8 hours depending on the gorilla family location. Many trekkers find Bwindi’s ecosystem even more pristine and untamed than Volcanoes.

Gorilla Encounter & Return

Dinner and overnight in Kigali near the airport or city centre. Rest and reflect on your extraordinary wildlife encounters.

Day 5: Departure

Depending on your flight schedule, depart for the airport. If you have time, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial or explore Kigali’s markets before heading to the airport for your international flight.
